Strawberry Surprise

Strawberry Surprise
June’s Cocktail of the week

My friend’s birthday arrived and I needed a nice, easy to make cocktail. Perfect for sitting out in the sun or in our case looking at the rain. Great start to a night out on the town.

Introducing my Strawberry Surprise

What you need: (Cocktail for 3)

  • Fresh Strawberry’s
  • Vodka
  • Triple Sec (Optional)
  • Peach Schnapps
  • Simple Syrup
  • Cranberry Juice
  • Ice

Step 1:

Put ice into your martini glasses and fill with water. This will chill the glasses while you create your masterpiece.  Nobody wants a summer cocktail in a hot glass!

Step 2:

Using a blender fill to around a quarters way with ice.

(I use a Breville Blender, you can use smoothie makers, Nutribullet or whatever you should be using the make healthy drinks for the gym. Might as well put your New Years Resolution purchase to real use.)

Step 3:

Wash the strawberries, place around 8 strawberrys in the blender. (Cut strawberries in half first.)

Step 4:

Pour 100ml of Vodka, 30ml of Peach Schnapps and a dash of Triple Sec into the blender. 20ml of Simple Syrup.

*Simple Syrup is sugar and water  mixed together. Half boiled water, half caster sugar works best. Stir and your all ready to go. Simple syrup – exactly what it says on the tin.*

Step 5:

Fill with Cranberry Juice and blend. Blend until it’s one beautiful red cocktail.

Step 6:

Taste Test: Too sweet: More vodka, Not Sweet enough: More simple Syrup, Slushy: more cranberry juice and booze, too thick: more ice, needs a kick: add another peach schnapps. Just go with what you feel like. It’s your surprise, it’s your creation!

Step 7:

Empty now cool martini glasses, pour cocktail in and garnish with a strawberry.                 For an extra fancy presentation, rub a slice of lime around the edge and role the rim of the glass on a plate of sugar to get the sweeter finish.

Enjoy!

Cocktail’s may have their certain ingredients but they can also be catered to different tastes. Don’t forget to mix and try new things. I’ve made this drink with rosé ice before, not as nice but definety worth the try. Sure it’s Summer, Go mad!
